Lulie Hughey Lane Scholarship
The Scholarship was named
in honor of Mrs. A. V. Lane, who was President of the Texas Society
when on 15 March 1915 she was Organizing President of John Cavet
Chapter in Dallas. John Cavet, her ancestor, was the son of John
and Margaret Cavet, born 1770, a private in the Pennsylvania Militia
during the War of 1812. He married Jean Ann McKean about 1792.
Their daughter, Margaret Cavet married John Hughey, from whom
Mrs. Lane descended.
The Scholarship was endowed by her daughter.
