MATCHING GRANTS
TYPES OF GRANTS
AVAILABLE
In order to assist Partner Societies in the preservation of County records, TSGS is offering “Matching Funds” Grants to help in the abstracting and publishing of county records or of area cemeteries. The three grants TSGS offers are as follows:
GRANT I This grant of $500.00 will be given to a Partner Society with
membership of over 300 members.
GRANT II This grant of $500.00 will be given to a Partner Society with
membership of 100 to 300 members.
GRANT III This grant of up to $500.00 will be given to a Partner Society with membership under 100 members.
WRITING THE GRANT
PROPOSAL
PART I A brief history of the Partner Society, a membership list, the names of officers including the number of years in research, teaching or publishing or other pertinent information, and financial status of the society.
PART II A description of the abstracting project, the approximate number of members to be involved in the project, and a time line for the completing the project. This part should also describe how the society would raise the matching funds.

AWARDING THE
GRANTS
The Review Committee shall present awards of $500.00 each to the three societies receiving the grants at the TSGS Annual Conference. Upon completion of the project and publishing the material in any acceptable form of media the society shall provide an evaluation showing the time used in abstracting, the number of persons who worked, the amount of money raised as matching funds, the importance and value of the records to genealogy, etc., and a copy to be donated to the Texas State Library by TSGS Review Committee. At this time the remainder of the grant money will be given to the Partner Society.
