The 1880, 1900, and 1910 Census were copied from the microfilm copies of the actual census taken during those years for Lubbock County.

Every effort was taken to copy the census as originally recorded although in some cases it seemed clear that names and occupations were clearly misspelled.  Some information was difficult of impassible to read due to poor hand writhing, ink blots, etc.

Prior to the 1920 Lubbock County Census being sent to Washington, some information was copied for use in preparing a planned city directory.  This information was printed in the Avalanche Newspaper Dec 30, 1921 and Jan 6, 10, 17, & 20, 1922.  Residents of the city were requested to check the list and report errors to the Chamber of Commerce.
