He was a member of the school board and a steward of the Methodist Church.  Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Elizabeth Ballard, a son James Ballard; and a sister Mrs. W. J. Flescher of Amarillo.  Burial will be in the Happy Cemetery under the direction of the Griggs‑Thompson Funeral Home of Canyon. Active pallbearers will be W. D.
