Deaths in Polytechnic Heights, 1916-1920

In 1922 the City of Fort Worth annexed the city of Polytechnic Heights. This community was originally formed when brothers Arch and W. D. Hall, with their brother-in-law, Roger Tandy, left Kentucky to begin a new life in Texas. Originally the small town was called Tandy Lake. In 1890, the Methodist Episcopal Church founded Polytechnic College; as the college grew so, did the community. When Polytechnic Heights was annexed by Fort Worth it had a population of 11,000. At that time, the community of Polytechnic Heights turned over its birth and death registration book to the City of Fort Worth. This book now resides in the City Archives at the library. The following is a brief transcription of the death records from 1916 to 1920. The death certificate includes the following information: name of deceased, street address, sex, color or race, marital status, date of death, date of birth, age, cause of death, occupation, birthplace, name of parents, place of burial, undertaker, informant and certificate number.
