Our August meeting will be a history
program at the Fort Bend Museum.
The program we'll participate in is "At Home in
1860". I chose this particular program
because it's definitely period-appropriate for
our organization. The date is Tuesday,
August 11th, from 1:00pm-4:00pm. "At Home
in 1860" allows children to dress in period
garb, tour the Long-Smith Cottage, "card
cotton", and perform other chores. It
should be a really fun outing for the kids.
The cost is $6.00 per child. The address
is 500 Houston Street, Richmond, Texas, 281.342.
6478. Morton Cemetery is just a short
drive away and we could plan to place
Confederate flags on graves while we're in the
area. There are many Confederate Dead
buried there. It's a beautiful cemetery
and I think the kids would enjoy searching for
the graves. Maybe we could grab some ice
cream before heading home.

Our July meeting will be a trip to the
Museum of Southern History to visit the
Lee-Grant Exhibit. I've spoken with
Suzi and they have Wednesday, July 29th, open.
We'll plan to meet there at 10:00am to tour the
exhibit and then have a picnic lunch following
where we can visit and share Convention
information. Everyone, please plan to
bring a sack lunch and drink with you.
Also, the museum fee is $8.00 per person (group
