Saron Cemetery

From Groveton, Texas, take State Highway 94 west to the Saron Cemetery sign and turn left. At the first road fork, bear left on an unpaved road one-half mile to the cemetery on the right. Saron is a beautiful rural cemetery on a low hill surrounded by a lush pine forest.

On October 17, 1970, Lois Polk, Edith Capps, J. C. Capps, L. D. Smith, Margie Glover, Ab Jernigan and wife, Nellie Nichols, Mary Miller, Laura Belle Gates, Josa Faye Anderson, Viola Brannen, and Grace Laramore furnished the list for the first edition of the Trinity County Cemeteries book. During July, 1990, Mrs. Patricia Hensley re-listed the cemetery and found at least thirty-six unidentified graves.

Funeral directors or any other person must have a burial permit to open a grave or conduct any kind of service in the Saron Cemetery. These permits are issued by officers of the association only. Anyone desiring a burial plot must contact a Saron Cemetery Association board member who can be reached through any of the local Trinity County funeral homes.
