THOMAS GRAVE

Our deer hunters find some of our lost graves. This cemetery is on private land. Red Baker found this grave in about 1977. On the way to Dean Cemetery, across White Oak Creek, there was a grave on the right of the road on top of a hill with a rock bearing the inscription

Wife of Johnny Thomas, age 17 years

This cemetery is on private property.  Take State Hwy 94 west out of Groveton or east out of Trinity.  Turn at the Dean Cemetery sign.  Continue on the road through locked gate & past the hunting camp.  70 yards beyond the bridge turn right on vehicle trail.  100 yards later turn left on another trail & follow it for 0.2 mile.  This is a hunting lease, and it is suggested you wait until after hunting season to visit this site.  It is suggested that you take a four-wheel drive vehicle or large pickup, because the trail has been washed out and is narrow.  Take State Hwy 94 west out of Groveton or East out of Trinity.  Turn at the Dean Cemetery sign.  Continue on the road through locked gate and past the hunting camp.  70 yards beyond the bridge turn right on vehicle trail.  100 yards later turn left on another trail and follow it for 0.2 mile.
