Jeremiah-Todd Barclay, age 25
son of Walter Barclay and Elizabeth McQueen Barclay was shot dead on
election day in July of 1850. This census shows him living to a ripe
old age. Warrant was out for Mr Hanks but he was never brought to trial.
William Walter Barclay b. 1831, son of Anderson Barclay went by Watt, not
Walt ( pretty sure about this as Watt is a short for Walter with Barclays.
Also, as an adult he was WW) I Think he was black Watt and Walter,
son of Robert b. 1831 was grey Watt) Have seen him in books called
Watt Barclay, civil war, etc.
Walter Barclay b. 1831 d 1899 -?? second wife was Mary Mahaffey Powell (my ggrand
mother)
Charles Bullock's first wife was Isabella Scott Bullock (
gggrandmother) His second wife was Elizabeth Barclay (James Barclay's
daughter)
Thank you for your page. It is very helpful. |

Dear RootsLady,
You have listed John M. Cauble, Household 160, Family 160, as a son of
Peter Cauble, Sr., and Mary Ann Rotan. He was NOT. He may have been a
nephew or a cousin, but there is no proof that he was a son. He did not
live with the family as a child. Instead, he lived in another county in
Tennessee. When all children were listed in Peter Cauble's will, there
was no mention of John M. Cauble.
Please remove this reference. You may mislead someone who has NOT
spent fourteen years researching this family, as I have.
The other Cauble men in Tyler County ARE sons of Mary Ann Rotan and
Peter Cauble, Sr.
Only trying to help, I am,
Sincerely, |

I have just seen your
page on the Tyler County census 1850. It is real nice but I found a
mistake as far as my records go.
First: I am a direct descendant of Harmon Frazer and Nancy Durden Pool.
If you notice I said Nancy Durden Pool.
Her maiden name is Durden and not Hanks. Could you let me know where you
got Hanks.
Keep up the good work on Tyler County. I was born in Woodville and moved
to Beaumont in 1941. The picture of the old courthouse brought back some
good memories.
I see your married name is Dore'. Well as one Texan to another
"there is nothing better than to be married to a real good coonie.
I will keep it clean. My wife is a
Bourgeois. I have traced her family tree back to Jacques Bourgeois in
Acadie Canada.

PS At least a quarter of Tyler County is kin to me. My parents are
buried in Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. |

Hi, Rootslady, you have
helped me a lot in tracing my Dad's family in Texas. All are deceased so
I need all the help I can find. Anyway, I found my greatgrandfather and
'mother in the Barclay section of your 1850 census and wanted you to
know there is an inaccuracy. The Census shows Mahala BARCLAY(daughter of
Anderson BARCLAY) married George J.MILNER in 1870. It should read GEORGE
I.MILLER. They are my gtgrandparents and I have a copy of
one of their sons' birth certs. and a copy of their marriage
license. Be glad to send copies if you need them.
Thank you again for all your good work. |
