Two Unidentifed Photos

Submitted by Charles McMurry

My great grandfather James Bradshaw McMurry moved his family from Rogersville, Alabama around 1893 to Scott, TX which I believe is about 10 miles south of Wills Point on FM 247. He had two sons and a daughter. My great grandmother Mary (Mollie) Catherine Wallace McMurry died September 21, 1899 and is buried in Cana Cemetery. The family was enumerated in the 1900 Federal Census but moved back to Alabama before October 1902 when James B. McMurry married again.

My grandfather and his older brother apparently traveled some while in Texas; probably after their mother died. I have a copy of a photograph of my grandfather that was made by a photographer in San Antonio, TX. In 1900 he would have been 18 years of age. He married in Rogersville, AL on Christmas Day 1905.

These two photographs were owned by my grandfather's brother who died in 1971. They are now owned by one of his granddaughters, my second cousin. The street scene is not labeled. On the reverse side of the photograph of the two women is written: Erline and Ina. I have no clue about who they were or where the street scene is located. I am hoping that you will be able to match the street scene picture with some pictures the Historical Society may have of Wills Point, Canton, or other nearby towns. My grandfather did travel to Terrell as I have a photograph of him made there. Of course, either or both pictures could have been made in Texas or Alabama or perhaps other places that they may have traveled that I do not know about.

If anyone can identify the street scene or the two women, I would very much appreciate it.
