We are compiling as many biographies and/or obituaries of the early ministers of Van Zandt County during the years 1848 to 1920 as we can find. Samuel N. Allen

Samuel Nelson Allen was the son of Nelson and Sarah Young Allen. He was born January 1, 1853 in Van Zandt County. He died February 1944 in Beeville, TX. Samuel was a circuit Methodist preacher in the Van Zandt County and surrounding counties. He was ordained in the 1890's. He married first on June 12, 1870 to Sarah Camillo Butler. She was born in 1851 and died February 13, 1879. She was buried at Creagleville Cemetery. They had four children. Samuel married second Minnie Perdue, born 1872. She died in 1918 in Red Oak, Oklahoma. They had three children. Samuel's last marriage was to Mrs. Leona Henley in Greenville on October 24, 1929. They had no children.
