We are compiling as many biographies and/or obituaries of the early ministers of Van Zandt County during the years 1848 to 1920 as we can find. William A. Slaughter

William A. Slaughter was born 1813 in Georgia. He was an early settler of Van Zandt County enlisting to serve in the Civil War in 1861. He was described as being 49 years old at the time with dark hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. His wife was S. Jane, born 1824, died 1890. He was a farmer as well as a minister. He died in 1896. They were both buried at Prairie Springs Cemetery near Ben Wheeler.
