William Jefferson Baker


Pictured here is William Jefferson Baker in his later years with his second wife Salonia Hinnard White, widow of Archibald Houston White. They were married in Van Zandt County on 11 July 1901. This photo was submitted by Paula Neumeyer who is a descendant of Salonia and her first husband Archibald. William Jefferson Baker first married Nancy Lusana Smith in Hawkinsville, Pulaski County, Georgia.

W.J. Baker was born in Houston County, Georgia to Dempsey Baker and Martha Norsworthy. He was residing in Pulaski County, Georgia when he enlisted in Co. G, 10th Confederate Regiment, Wheeler's Cavalry. He served until the close of the war.
