Friendship School, 1938-39

Submitted by Derrel Lyon

Charles W. King, father-in-law of Derrel Lyon, was just a youngster at the Friendship school at the time these photos were made. He is now 70 years old. Vision problems and time have robbed him of his ability to identify most of the people in the photos.

This photo is thought to be of the 1938-39 school year at the Friendship School northeast of Grand Saline.

The man on the far left is John Jarmon (school trustee responsible for writing the paychecks for the teachers)

The first woman in the back row on the left is Ruby Anderson.

The tallest woman in the back row near the middle of the photo is teacher Mrs. Stickland. The boy standing in the row in front of her is Durwood King (son of Marvin King)

The man standing on the far right is Marvin W. King (whose father Dave King donated the land for the School)
On the second row third from right is David King (son of Marvin)

On the first row third from right is Charles W. King (son of Marvin)

All others are unknown. If you can identify any of the others, please contact Sibyl
