The photos on these pages are generously contributed by Milda Mason of Alto, New Mexico. Her ancestors were early settlers in Van Zandt County and these wonderful old photos are much appreciated. In addition, there is a very interesting story on this family and the Bottoms family on our "Old Tales, Stories Page" that you don't want to miss. If you would like to share your old family photos by placing them on this web site, please contact Sibyl Creasey for instructions.
MOORE MERCANTILE 1910
This is Moore Mercantile, situated on Main Street in Lubbock, Texas about 1910.
The owner, on the right, with a customer, is John Henry Moore. born 31 August, 1877 in Canton, Texas, the son of William Bomar (#2) Moore and Sarah Elizabeth Scott.

Johnnie and Mattie's line died with them as their only son, John Jr, born 28 January 1911 died in the influenza epidemic in 1916.
"Little Johnnie" has several pictures of him on this site.
When he was young and showed any sign of temper, his sisters teased him unmercifully, and called him "Johnnie Vinegar"
