John Garvin McBee arrived in Van Zandt County in the early 1830s, with his parents from Tennessee where he was born. His Father William H. McBee was issued a Headright Land Grant in 1838 and the land he choose was almost evenly divided by the Kaufman, Van Zandt County boundary line, their home was located on the Van Zandt County side of the property.

John Garvin married his first wife Elizabeth O. Reeves in 1846, they made their home near her parents Thomas and Elizabeth (?) Reeves in Kaufman County where they were recorded on the 1850 Census with their baby daughter Narcissa Jane McBee. By 1851 John Garvin had deserted Elizabeth and gone to California, (probably in search of Gold). Elizabeth divorced John Garvin by 1860 and he married a widow, Amanda (Dawson) Nichols in Amador Co., CA in 1865 and by 1867 he had deserted her and returned to Van Zandt County by 1870.

While he was gone, his father William H. McBee, his sister Rebecca (McBee) Karber Roberts and his two brothers William Newton and Silas P McBee had all died. His sister Nancy Jane (McBee) Scroggins her husband Daniel and their children, his half brother Robert B. his wife Mahala (Jay) McBee, his sister Rebecca's two sons Henry L and Jasper Newton Karber and his own daughter Narcissa Jane who had married Edward William (Bill) Cameron in 1869 and moved to Dallas County, were the only member of his family still living. John Garvin had inherited much of his father's original land grant, and his brother's portion of that land.

Margaret Francis White arrived in Van Zandt County in 1870 with her parents Thomas and Sarah Ann (Pyle) White, they made their home just north of Wills Point near the William Wills Family on 160 acres of land purchased from the (?) Childress Estate, part of the original the John Blair Survey.

John Garvin and Margaret Francis met and were married on 28 January 1877 by
Clayton Williams J.P. in Van Zandt County. They made their home on 160 acres on the Lynn Creek in the northwest corner of Jack County which they Homestead in 1884, where their 6 children were born. They stayed there until about 1891 when they left to go to Ryan, Jefferson Co.,OK, IT.

John Garvin McBee died 5 March 1905 near Milo, IT and Margaret Francis stayed in their home, with their youngest son Raleigh Dee Garvin McBee. On a trip in 1916 to Van Zandt County to visit Margaret's family Raleigh married Zettie McAlvie McElroy youngest daughter of William V & Emma (Blackley) McElroy. Margaret Francis McBee lived with Raleigh and Zettie until about 1935 when she went to live with her oldest son and his wife, John Andrew Jackson and Emma Akin (Lee) McBee in Skellytown, Carson Co., TX where she died on the 22nd of August 1936.
