Old Wills Cabin Submitted by Betty Alexander
The town of Wills Point was named for an early settler, William Wills. He was born 1804 in Tennessee. The family moved to Van Zandt County about 1849, and purchased land on the Old Dallas-Shreveport Road. William Wills died 28 Sep 1865 and was buried on land which was donated for the purpose of a burial place. The cemetery was laid out by Mary Wills and for many years, it was called the Wills Point Cemetery. The name was later changed to White Rose Cemetery. William Wills is the oldest marked grave in this cemetery.
