I'm very glad you stopped by and hope that you find this website useful for your genealogical research. I'm always in the need of help in getting data on-line. If you'd be interested in helping, please let me know. I may not be able to help with specific research questions, but should you have any questions or comments regarding the Walker County Genealogy Project, please e-mail me. This county is available for adoption. If you are interested in adopting Walker County TXGenWeb, please contact the State Coordinator, Shirley Cullum. Walker County, Texas was organized 6 Aug 1846 by an act of the State of Texas Legislature. The area was originally named for Robert J. Walker of Mississippi, who introduced into the United States Congress the resolution for the annexation of Texas; because he was a Unionist during the Civil War, however, in 1863 the state legislature changed the honoree to Samuel H.
