Johanna Unnasch Senkel Her full name was Johanna Wilelmine Friederike Unnasch born April 16, 1835 in Wendisch Tychow, Kreis Schlawe, Pomerania/Prussia. She was the eldest child of Christian Ewald Unnasch and Wilhemine Christine Steinhorst. Her ancestors had been in the Wenisch Tachow area since the 1600s. Johanna married Carl Senkel sometime before November 06, 1855. He died October 14, 1880 in Hammer Muble, Varzin, Rummelsburg, Prussia. At this time, it's not known when she immigrated to America, but she died October 31, 1918 in Pflugerville, Travis Co., Texas. She and her husband had four children: Johanne Caroline Ernestine Senkel Luedtke (1855-1890), John Senkel (1859-1940), Wilhelm Senkel (1871-1944), Heinrich (Henry) Senkel (1874-1944).

1836 on her family records in Texas. An article in the Pflugerville
Press (no Dates) states: Aged lady died Thurs. Mrs. Johanna Senkel
aged 81 yrs 10 mo. 16 days died at the home of her granddaughter,
Mrs. J.L.Steger on Thursday morn. She had been in good health up to
a little over three wks when she fell and broke her leg. Since that
time she had been confined to her bed suffering a great deal from
the injury sustained in the fall, but was relieved of all earthly
pains Thurs when she breathed her last. When Johanna Louise's
parents died in her early teens, she was adopted out with her
brothers and sisters. The family who adopted her had a daughter by
the name of Johanna Louise who had recently passed away so they gave
her the name of Johanna Louise which she carried the rest of her
life. Her brother 3 years younger than her named his sixth daughter
after her. She reared her name sakes grandchildren.
