Williamson County is located in Central Texas, just north of Austin, with a population of about 250,000. The county was formed in 1848 from Milam County, and is named for Judge Robert McAlpin Williamson, a leader and veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto. He was also knows as "3 legged Willie" due to a deformed leg and his use of a wooden leg. Georgetown, the largest town in Williamson County, is the county seat. |
