Addison of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at First Baptist Church in Lovington. The Rev. Harry Pittam will officiate. Services are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery. He will lie in state from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on today at the funeral home. Mr. Addison, 57, died on Wednesday, Oct. 3, in his home. He was born on July 24, 1944, in Kermit, Texas. He married Jimmy Sue Woods on May 24, 1962, in Juarez, Mexico. Mr. Addison grew up in Jal and graduated from Jal High School in 1962. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1963. He entered the enlisted commissioning program while he attended the University of New Mexico where he graduated in 1972. He served as the commanding officer of the USS Oakridge ARDM-1 in Kings Bay, Ga., as a part of the submarine service. He retired in 1986 as a lieutenant commander. During his military career, he received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with two stars, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation and Command Pin. In 1992, Mr. Addison and his family moved to Lovington. He operated a business, Video Stop, in Lovington and Eunice. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jal. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Stacy Wade Addison of Hobbs; one daughter, Karen Sue Connell of the home; his mother, Nell R. Robinson of Jal; one brother, Gary Addison of Fairfield, Calif.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
