(09/25/2001)Wilhelmena Babcock Austin American Statesman Wilhelmena Babcock, 84, died Friday, September 21, 2001, in Austin, Texas. She had been a 50 year resident of Kermit, Texas, moving from there to Austin in May of 2000. Graveside services will be conducted by Floyd Stumbo at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2001, at the Kermit Cemetery. Assisting with the service will be B.B. Kilgore and Jodie Garrett. She was born in Iowa Park, Texas, on July 18, 1917, to Earl and Mary Block Johnson. She was married to Joseph Henry Babcock November 19, 1937, in Pampa, Texas. Mr. Babcock preceded her in death on January 24, 1995. She was a member of the Highland Village Church of Christ in Austin and had previously been a member of the Westside Church of Christ in Kermit, Texas. She is survived by: son and daughter- in-law, Joe and Betty Babcock of Hobbs, New Mexico; daughter and son-in-law, Sweetie and John Costanzi of Austin; adopted son and daughter-in-law, Don and Beverly Perry of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Earlene Childers of Coleman, Texas, and Evelyn Inman of Plainview, Texas; one brother, John Johnson of Pampa, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Lorene Babcock of Odessa, Texas, Pearl Babcock of Amarillo, Texas and Zoah Babcock Britten of Wheeler, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are Bud Wight, Bill Betcher, Billy Ray Thompson, James Alexander, B.B. Kilgore and Jodie Garrett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Home of Lubbock, P.O. Box 2824, Lubbock, Texas 79408. Services are entrusted to Cooper Funeral Chapel, Inc.
