Max Varner, age 45 of Baird, Texas, passed away at 3.20 a.m.  Thursday, January 3, 2002, 
at his home in Baird, Texas. Funeral services will he held at
 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Baird. 
Pastor Larry Gaumond will officiate. Burial will be in the Ross Cemetery Annex directed
 by Parker Funeral Home. Mr. Varner was born February 14, 1956, in Kermit, Texas.
 He was a resident of Austin, Texas, before moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico, then moved to 
Baird, Texas, 2 months ago. He was engaged in the Oil and Gas industry, and was a story
 teller, entertainer, and semi professional fisherman. He was a Methodist. Survived by 
Partner in Life, Lori Wrotenbery of Santa Fe, New Mexico; mother, Bernice Ray Varner of
 Baird, Texas; sister, Paula Varner Johnson of Midland, Texas; grandmother, 
Margie Ray Sullivan of Baird, Texas; 7 nieces and nephews and many loving friends and
 relatives. Max was preceded in death by his father, Paul Max Varner; and a Sister, 
Marianne Tamer Sanders.
