Joseph South West, , 93, of Beaverton, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999 at Gladwin Living Centre in Gladwin after a short illness. Born June 9, 1906 in Mannington, W. V., he lived in Gladwin County since 9137 and previously lived in West Virginia. Joseph married Agnes (Hansen) April 28, 1928 in Kermit, Texas. She preceded him in death March 6, 1992. He worked in the oil fields for 13 years. Then he worked for The Dow Chemical Company in Midland, retiring in 1965 after 15 years. After retirement, Joe enjoyed working on his farm. Surviving are one sister, Virginia Easter Lambiotte of Fairmont, W. V.; one nephew, Gene “Bud” and wife Wanda West of Beaverton; one daughter-in-law, Barbara West of Midland; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a very good friend, Mildred Stringfield of Beaverton. He was preceded in death by one son, Jack in 1995; three brothers, James North, John A., and Anglum P.; three sisters, Mazella Jean West, Sarah Elizebeth Morgan, and Mary Lenore Summers. Serviced will be held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Home in Beaverton with Rev. Paul Murphrey officiating.
