James Slay
KERMIT — James T. Slay, 81, of Kermit, a retired rental car transporter, died Monday,
 Feb. 18, 2002, at his residence.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday at the Kermit Cemetery with the Rev. Emmett Upchurch
 officiating. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
He was born in Dewar, Okla., and was a resident of Kermit for eight years. He was an Air Force 
veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Corrine Slay of Kermit; sons, James Slay of Cushing, Okla., Mark Slay of Kermit,
 Scott Slay of Pampa, Gary Slay of Fort Smith, Ark., Jerry Slay of Georgia and Pat Slay of 
Cedarville, Ark.; brothers, Bobby Slay of Amarillo, Leroy Slay of Muskogee, Okla., and 
Jack Slay of Perry, Okla.; sisters, Helen Downing of Seminole, Okla., and Glenda Sue Elling 
of Plano; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
