FINAL RITES FOR WORLEY
THURSDAY AT 2:PM


Funeral services for Jeff Worley, long time Winkler County Law enforcement figure, are scheduled at 2 p.m. today (Thursday at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. R.E. Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Kermit Cemetery.

The Courthouse offices will be closed from 1-4p.m.

Mr. Worley, 79 died at Winkler County Memorial Hospital Tuesday evening. He had been in the hospital the last two days.

He was born in Dallas County June 21, 1883. He came to Winkler County from Pampa in October 1945.

When Mr. Worley moved to Winkler County he was employed by the City of Kermit as the sole peace officer of the municipality. He held that position until March 1, 1947, when he joined the Winkler County Sheriff's office as a deputy.

Mr. Worley remained a deputy until March 15, 1958, when he resigned and conducted a successful campaign for election as a Justice of the Peace.

He succeeded himself two years later in another election and at the time of his death was the Democratic candidate for reelection to the position. He was unopposed.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nona Worley of Kermit; three brothers, Ben Worley of Haskell, Will Worley of Bowie, Zack Worley of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Hattie North of Weatherford; seven sons, C. C.  Worley of Fort Worth; Grover Worley of Kermit, H.H. Worley of North Cowden, O.B. Worley of Pampa; H.C. Worley of Levelland; L.D. Worley of Tampa, Fla., and Wayne Worley of Arlington; two daughters, Mrs. Faye Henderson of El Paso and Mrs. Vera Pornor of Chula Vista, Calif.; 27 grandchildren and  30 great grandchildren.

Mr. Worley was a member of the Odd Fellows and the Methodist Church. Maples Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be George Finley, Judge W.E. Cook, E.C. Locklear, Leonard Gray, Oscar Theisen and W.L. Etheridge.
