May 04, 2000 THE ODESSA AMERICAN [http://www.oaoa.com] John Michael "Mike" Simpson KERMIT — John Michael "Mike" Simpson of Albuquerque, N.M., a real estate broker, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Albuquerque. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. MST today, May 4, 2000, at the Kermit Cemetery in Kermit under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home of Eunice, N.M., with the Rev. Alan Speed pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Jal, N.M., officiating. Michael was born Oct. 18, 1942, in Gorman. He graduated from Jal High School in 1962; and was a graduate of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. Michael attended officers training school and became a 1st Lt. in the Army. Shortly after, he was sent to Vietnam and served during the Tet Offensive. He received two purple hearts and two bronze stars for valor during his tour of duty. Michael moved to California and began his career in real estate. He became a broker and worked in several cities in California. The last few years, he had to spend less time in the work he loved because of ill health. Michael was very outgoing and loved to be around people. He has numerous friends in California and New Mexico. He is survived by his mother, Creta Simpson of Jal, N.M.; sisters, Sherra Robison and her husband, Ray, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Malinda Clinton and her husband, Terry, of Gallup, N.M.; nieces, Teisha Clinton and Krista Clinton of Clovis, N.M.; nephew, Jason Robison and his wife, Jennifer, of Spokane, Wash.; and great-nephew, Chase Robison of Spokane, Wash. His father, Claud H. Simpson, preceded him in death in 1984.
