MEN WANTED ON CHARGES AT WINK

A man giving the name of Chester Gardner, wanted at Pyote and Wink on a number of charges, and an associate, whose name is unknown, were captured here Saturday by Sheriff Reeder Webb and Deputy Tom Jones, after a short chase. The men were brought here to jail, where they were held until called for by Ward county officers.

Officers here, after receiving word to be on the lookout for two men in a Chevrolet coupe sedan from Pyote Thursday night attempted to stop Gardner and his friend on the highway West of town. When they refused to stop, officers gave chase and the alleged theives ran their car in behind the Westacre laundry and abandoned it. Gardner was chased on foot by Sheriff Webb and captured.

Gardner, it seems was held in the Kermit jail, where according to Wink papers, he was held in connection with the robbing of a cash register in a Wink store. Complaint had been filed against him by Max Smith, owner of the store. He escaped from the Kermit jail Thursday night the paper stated.
