In 1957 Yoakum County Celebrated its 50th Anniversary

The Lions Clubs of Plains and Denver City sponsored a Beard Contest during the Golden Jubilee Celebration. Winners (above) were: Kenyon Banks of Denver City: Most Unique; J. E. Bohannon of Plains, Most Typical Pioneer; and Lon Kerrick of Plains, the Heaviest.
