John, Lord Rolle of Stevenstone (1751-1842)
1-John Rolle, the son of John Rolle (? - 1689) and Christiana Bruce (? - 1720), was baptised on 8 Dec 1679 at St Giles in the Wood, Devon and was buried there on 23 May 1730.
John married Isabella Charlotta Walter, the daughter of William Walter (? - 1693) and Mary Bruce (1659-1711), on 24 Jun 1706 in London, Middlesex. Isabella Charlotta was buried at St Giles in the Wood on 11 Oct 1734. They had ten children: Henry, Christiana Maria, Isabella Charlotta, John, Lucia, Lucilla, William, Anne, Denys and Maria Phillipa.
2-Henry Rolle was born on 7 Nov 1708. He died at Bicton on 18 Aug 1750 and was buried there on 6 Sep 1750. Henry was Member of Parliament for Devon 1730-1741 and Barnstaple 1741-1747. He was elevated to the peerage by letters patent on 8 Jan 1747/48 as Baron Rolle of Stevenstone.
2-Christiana Maria Rolle was born about 1710 and was buried on 19 Jul 1780 in Frithelstock, Devon .
Christiana married Henry Stevens, the son of Richard Stevens. Henry was buried at Frithelstock on 21 Jan 1748. Christiana and Henry had five children: Elizabeth, Henry, Mary, Christian and Isabella Charlotta.
3-Elizabeth Stevens was baptised at Frithelstock, Devon on 30 Aug 1738. She married Robert Cooke at Frithelstock, Devon on 20 Jan 1762.
3-Henry Stevens was baptised at Frithelstock, Devon on 31 Jul 1739 and died at Little Torrington, Devon on 20 Oct 1802. He married Sarah Bridget Marwood. Sarah died at Little Torrington, Devon on 27 Oct 1821.
3-Mary Stevens was baptised at Frithelstock, Devon on 1 May 1740 and was buried at Frithelstock, Devon on 21 Nov 1804. She married Morgan O'Connell at St Martin, Exeter, Devon on 12 Dec 1783. Morgan O'Connell was buried at Frithelstock, Devon on 20 Apr 1789.
3-Christian Stevens was baptised at Frithelstock, Devon on 10 Apr 1743 and was buried at Great Torrington, Devon on 12 Oct 1828. She married Thomas Moore, Vicar of Bishops Tawton, at Frithelstock on 31 Oct 1779. Thomas Moore was baptised at Great Torrington on 4 Feb 1740 and was buried at Great Torrington on 24 Jun 1802.
3-Isabella Charlotta Stevens was baptised at Frithelstock, Devon on 27 Aug 1745 and was buried at Frithelstock, Devon on 28 May 1746.
2-Isabella Charlotta Rolle was baptised on 7 Feb 1710/11 in St Giles in the Wood, Devon and was buried on 28 Mar 1771 in St Giles in the Wood, Devon .
Isabella married Robert Duke, the son of George Duke and Dorothy Ayre in Suffolk, on 8 Apr 1731. Robert was baptised at Collaton Raleigh, Devon on 23 Aug 1709, died at Otterton on 6 Feb 1741 and was buried at Collaton Raleigh on 13 Feb 1741. They had no children.
2-John Rolle was baptised on 1 Oct 1713 at St Giles in the Wood, Devon and was buried there on 7 Dec 1779. John inherited Sarsden in Oxfordshire and assumed the surname Walter on the death of his maternal uncle, Sir Robert Walter, 4th Baronet in 1731. Inherited the Rolle estates on the death of his brother Henry Rolle in 1750. Member of Parliament for Exeter 1754-1772 and Devon 1755-1779.
2-Lucia Rolle was baptised on 10 Nov 1715 at St Giles in the Wood, Devon and was buried at St Giles on 9 Sep 1741.
2-Lucilla Rolle was baptised on 19 Oct 1717 at St Giles in the Wood, Devon and was buried at St Giles in the Wood on 9 Sep 1741, the same day as her sister Lucia.

Denys married Anne Chichester, daughter of Arthur Chichester and Dorothy Rowe, on 22 May 1750 in East Down, Devon . They had eight children: John, Isabella Henrietta Charlotta, Anne, Lucilla, Denys Bruce, Samuel, Christiana Phillippa Maria, and Florence.
Denys Rolle's obituary appeared in the July 1797 edition of Gentleman's Magazine.

John next married Louisa Trefusis, third daughter of Robert George William Trefusis, 16th Lord Clinton and Albertina Marianna Gaulis, on 24 Sep 1822 in Huish, Devon . They had no children.
John was elevated to the peerage, by letters patent, 20 Jun 1796 as Baron Rolle of Stevenstone.
Lord Rolle's obituary appeared in the Aug 1842 edition of Gentleman's Magazine.
Lady Rolle's nephew, the Hon. Mark George Kerr Trefusis, aged six, inherited the Rolle Estate upon Lord Rolle's death. The inheritance was substantial, amounting to nearly 55,600 acres; part in North Devon and part in the South of the County. All that was required was that Mark Trefusis change his name to Rolle (which he did by Royal License on 30 Jan 1852), and to live part of each year in the family mansions, Stevenstone in the North and Bicton in the South.
Mark George Kerr Trefusis was born on 13 Nov 1835 in Huish, Devon the second son of Charles Rodolph Trefusis, 19th Lord (Baron) Clinton (1791-1866) and Lady Elizabeth Georgiana Kerr (?-1871). He died on 27 Apr 1907.
