NORMAN Family
Jeremy Norman (member number 2664) is researching the NORMAN family name and he has traced it back to Stoke Prior in 1790 when Thomas NORMAN married Hannah HARPER from Humber. All of their children were born in Stoke Prior. Then a brick wall.
Does anyone have any information on Thomas NORMAN? He is not noted as a parishioner of Stoke Prior.
Is there a possiblity with a Thomas Norman born in Thornbury in 1755?
Any information would be gratefully received....Jeremy needs to get to sleep at night. If you can help him please contact him at:

LEWIS & PINCHES Families
Merrilyn Minter (member number 2384) is seeking information on the ancestry and descendants of Thomas LEWIS, born about 1808/9 Aymestery, Herefordshire, and Elizabeth (née PINCHES) LEWIS born about 1818/19 Leintwardine, Herefordshire.
According to their marriage certificate (1842), Thomas, a widower, was the son of Hugh LEWIS, and Elizabeth, spinster, was the daughter of John MORRIS. Witnesses were Samuel PINCHES and Sarah NICKS.
At the 1851 Census, Thomas and Elizabeth and their family were at Dark Lane, Elton. By the 1861 Census, they had moved to 102 Lower Broad Street, St Lawrence district, Ludlow.
Thomas’ first wife may have been Hannah, as Thomas and Hannah LEWIS were at Pipe Aston with 3 children at the 1841 census – William 12, Thomas(?) 8 and George, age unclear.
Children of Thomas and Elizabeth were:- James born 1843 Pipe Aston, m. Sarah PROSSER; Charles b. 1844 - d.c. 1881 Australia; Henry b. 1846; Ann b. 1849; John b. 1851 – d. 1933 Australia.
Elizabeth PINCHES was born about 1818/19 at Leintwardine according to census records for 1851 and 1861. She was possibly the daughter of Eleanor or Ann PINCHES. In the 1841 census, she may have been at Leintwardine with a Richard PINCHES born about 1816 and George PINCHES born about 1840.
One of the Witnesses to Elizabeth's marriage to Thomas LEWIS in 1842 was a Samuel PINCHES.
On the 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1891 census records, Samuel PINCHES gives his birthplace as Leintwardine - his birth year varies between 1820 and 1826. He is unmarried, and his mother Eleanor/Ellen is living with him. Her birthplace is also recorded as Leintwardine, but her age and marital status is inconsistent. She is unmarried in 1851, age 63; a widow in 1861, aged 66, and a widow aged 82 in 1871. Her death was probably registered at Leominster in 1872 - aged 82.

BUFTON in America
Phil Bufton is trying to make contact with any BUFTONs in America. He writes:
"All I know is that my Grandfather Thomas BUFTON, was born 1873 in Norton, Radnorshire, Wales, to William & Jane BUFTON (neé MORRIS). William was born Llanbister, Radnor and Jane was allegedly born Knighton, Radnor, both in 1825.
Thomas went to work in America at about the turn of the century and it is believed he made several trips back and forth. It is said that William & Jane had 13 children, William, John, Mellinda, Emma, Fanny, Eli, Selina, Charles, Allen being the known ones along with Thomas the youngest, and that at least 2 or 3 of his brothers & sisters also went to America at this time.
So what happened to them
?
I have a copy of two photographs, one of which was taken, going by the surrounds, of Thomas BUFTON in Chinook, Montana and the other of a family group, believed to be possibly one of Thomas' brothers or sisters and a little baby, taken in Stewartville, Minn.
One other reference I have is of Thomas working for a New York Banker by the name of J R SPRINGLE on his property in Montana.
Also welcome anyone interested in the BUFTON surname in Llanbister/Llandrindod Wells Radnorshire, Wales or Dilwyn/Pembridge, Herefordshire, England
Please contact Phil Bufton
