    Posting a Query / Obituary

  1. post your surnames and queries to the appropriate Oblast Query board,
  2. be notified of new postings or responses to your post,
  3. view and respond to the postings of others,
  4. search Ukraine and other countries that participate in the system.
To post your surnames and queries, click on the "View/Post" link for the appropriate Oblast, located in the Oblast Chart. We strongly recommend that you post to the Oblast that your ancestor was from - if you don't know, first try to locate the District on our Guide to Locating your Town page.
A successful posting should include as much basic information as possible. Include what you know in your posting, i.e., possible name variations, dates that you know, what information you have, what information you are looking for, city/village names, etc. The more specific your are in your query, the better your results will be.
If you still do not know the Oblast, make sure you pick the General category. In your posting, please try and give an approximation of the locale where you think they might be from. Narrowing down your query might give you better results. Many of the same surnames are found throughout Ukraine.
