Sir John Barrow
New Introduction by Edward Leslie
The tragic, yet remarkable, story of the H.M.S.
Bounty is one of a treacherous Mutiny in 1789 that left Lieutenant
William Bligh and eighteen of his men adrift
in the Pacific Ocean. With nothing more than a sextant and a pocket
watch, Lt Bligh safely navigated his men 3,600
nautical miles in 41 days with only one casualty.
The mutineers eventually settled and burned the
ship in what is now called Bounty Bay, and they weren’t
discovered for another 18 years. Written by British
geographer Sir John Barrow, this heartbreaking
story became a landmark case in naval history.
