| The subject of this sketch was born in Sangerville in 1846. When seven years of age he went with his parents to Dexter, where he attended the public schools. Having prepared himself for college at Foxcroft and East Corinth academies, he entered Bowdoin College, graduating therefrom in the class of '67. During his college course he took several prizes in the line of English composition and oratory. In 1868 he attended the Albany Law School. In 1869 he was a member of the Maine Legislaturefrom Dexter. During 1870-71 he was county supervisor of schools for Penobscot County. In 1872 he began the practice of law in Bangor, and the following year was chosen city solicitor. In March, 1874, he was appointed chief clerk of the Department of the Interior at Washington, under Secretary Columbus Delano. In 1876 he was appointed internal revenue agent by Secretary of the Treasury Lot M. Morrill, having his head-quarters at Philadelphia, New York, and Boston until 1887. In 1888, Col. Plummer settled in Skowhegan, and began the practice of law. | ![]() |
