"Families are Forever"
Obituary:
Evelyn Pierce Merrill was reunited with her husband, Virgil T. Merrill, on Friday, Sept. 7, 2007,
after being apart for nine years. She passed peacefully of natural causes surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was born Sept. 12, 1935, in Wellington, Utah, to Willard and Rosie Blackburn Pierce. She
married Virgil on July 11, 1950. They lived in Trenton, Utah, for their entire married lives
where they raised their five children: Vickie Spillett of Trenton, Theon (Nancy) Merrill of Preston,
Idaho, Craig (Kathy) Merrill of Trenton, Danny Merrill ({Lisa}) of Pocatello, Idaho, and
Jason (Tera) Merrill of Trenton. She was also blessed with 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was proud of her siblings and enjoyed spending time with them when she could. She had 13
siblings and is survived by her brothers, Perry, Jim, Oscar, Ralph, Fred and Clyde; and two sisters,
Lola Spackman and Faye Sykes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Lewis, Dan,
Scott and Ted; a sister, Della Mooney; and a great-granddaughter, Brittney Noble.
Evelyn was a member of the LDS Church and was sealed posthumously to her husband in the Logan LDS
Temple on March 12, 1999. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother
and sister. Her hobbies included cooking and canning for her family, crocheting, quilting,
embroidering and camping. She will be greatly loved and sorely missed by her friends and family.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main,
Smithfield. Funeral services will start at noon Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the Trenton Ward chapel,
1200 N. 400 West, Trenton. Friends and family may attend a viewing to be held from 10:30 to 11:30
that morning. The family would like to thank the staff of Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation as well
as the kind folks at Access Hospice. We would like to express a special thank you and deep
appreciation to Thelma Roley and Brittney Francis of Access for all of the love that was shown
and the care that was given to our mother in her last days.
Published in the Logan Herald Journal from 9/9/2007 - 9/19/2007.
Alois Miller born 10/3/1866 death is given in cemetery records as 8/15/1994 (sic), but it is obviously wrong, maybe 1949.

“Beyond the sunset for evermore.”
Obituary:
Cleston Larry Payne died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in Ogden, Utah, of heart failure.
He was born April 29, 1943, in Trenton, Utah, to Cecil G. and Luella Thompson Payne.
He attended Trenton Elementary School, Lewiston Jr. High, and graduated in 1961 from
North Cache High School.
During his life, Cleston worked as a retail grocery clerk, a florist, and as a manager
at Weber State University in food service for several years before he became disabled.
Music was a big part of Cleston's life. He sang with the North Cache a cappella choir,
in the high school musicals, and at various functions in the area. He loved working
with flowers and used that talent over the years to prepare floral arrangements for
weddings and funerals as well as helping many friends with their yard work, especially
the widows he knew. He was an accomplished bridge player and participated in competition
bridge tournaments for many years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, LaNay Bright; and a great-nephew,
Jeremy Payne. He is survived by his brothers, Cecil N. (Joyce) Payne and Lynn G. (Glenna) Payne
from Trenton; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, in the Trenton, Utah, Cemetery.
Cremation was provided by Nelson Funeral Home. We would like to extend a special thanks to
Dr. Lynn Eskelson, his staff, and the nursing staff at Franklin County Medical Center for their
many hours of dedicated service and care.

Wayne E. Pullum has a marker there, but not listed in the burials. Arthur Carroll Pullum is listed on marker, but in burials is listed as Arthur Pullum Carroll. William Joseph Pullum is listed in burials, 4/26/1922 – 1/20/1995 but does not have a marker - this is probably the man listed as "Bill" William Zimmer, buried with Phyllis N. Henderson Zimmer.
