     BERYL--Evangeline Birdie Wuertz, 96, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at 
Red Cliffs Regional Care Center.  She was born Nov. 15, 1901, in Denver,
Colo., to William Agusta and Rebekka Berg Fording.  She married Gottlieb 
Theodore Wuertz.  They had two children.

     She lived many happy years in Beryl on a farm with her husband.  She
was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Nov. 3, 1956.
She spent many devoted years in the Family History Center researching many
names.  Evangeline was loved by everyone around her.  She always had something
nice to say about everyone.  She mostly enjoyed her genealogy work.  She
enjoyed quilting and sewing and was an adopted grandmother to all the children
of the Chester Whitelaw family in Beryl, always making them fun things to
play with.  She enjoyed a year at Red Cliffs Regional, reading as many books
as she could find, and crocheting for others.

     She was preceded in death by her husband and children.   Living to be
96, she has outlived all her family and many of her friends.

     Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997, at 12:30 p.m.
at the St. George City Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of
Metcalf Mortuary, 300 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.  673-4221.
