BROWN -
Benjamin BROWN lived at Brown's Cove, Albemarle Co. He is one of my great grandfathers and Bernard BROWN (one of this sons) is another grandfather. Sarah Thompson Brown was one of Benjamin's wives and Elizabeth Dabney Brown was Bernard's wife. Benjamin BROWN moved to Albemarle Co. in the 1740's and died Nov. 9, 1762 at Brown's Cove. I would like to know where Benjamin, Sarah, Bernard, and Elizabeth are buried. I would like to know any information on Benjamin's father. There is a Brown family bible which states that Benjamin's father was John and the settled in New Kent / Hanover Co., Va. Benjamin Brown's 1st of 2nd wife had five children. Their names were Benjamin, William, Bartlett, Lucinda, and Agnes. I would like to know their date of births and the date the died and where. I would also like to know the names of Benjamin's 1st and second wife. I am aware the some related families think Sarah Dabney was one of Benjamin's wives. Does anyone know where I can proff that Sarah Dabney was really one of Benjamin's wives. Thanks for your help.

Mary Anne TOOLEY married John SNEED in Albemarle County according to bond
posted in October 1856. She was sixteen years old at time. Joshua TOOLEY
signed marriage bond. Mary Ann is not Joshua daughter. Suggestion has been
made that she was James TOOLEY and Susannah(Susan) PETTETT's daughter. James
died in 1840. A Susan TOOLEY married a John BOWEN in August of 1845. Is this
the same Susan who was James's wife? Did Mary Ann then go to live in home of
stepfather. She does not appear in the 1850 census with any Tooleys in
Albemarle county as a 10 year old female. Any help would be appreciated as
this seems to be the missing link in connection to Tooley line. Thanks in
advance.

Jamestown in 1619 from England via the ship "Marigold". Thomas BENGE was the

married Ruth KINCAID born____ in ____. died February 1810. The only child I
know of theirs is Alexander GREER born 1753 Albermarle County and died in
Bedford County near Big Spring VA. Alexander married Jennie BINGHAM who was
born in North Carolina. Ruth KINCAID was the daughter of Joseph KINKEAD who
died in 1774. His father was also named Joseph KINKEAD. Can anyone help fill

David lived in Albermarle Co. during his first marriage. In 1780 he remarried
and moved to Georgia. Children of first marriage: David b.1757, James b.
1759-1838, Mathew b. 1762, Elijah b. 1764, Mary and Jane. Children by 2nd
marriage were: George b. 1781, Sarah (Sally) b. 1783, Hezekiah b. 1797 and
Priscilla b. 1800. David was 70 years old in 1800. David ROBERTSON was the son

I would like to obtain any information on the William Branham who appears in
Albemarle County Road Orders 1744-48. This order is dated February 12, 1746 and
states "...ordered the male tithables of Col. Robert Lewis, Thomas Walker, William
Bramham, William Bustard and john Lyon do clear the same, John Lyon overseer."
Also the William Branham on two deeds in 1778, William Branahm to John Hurt,
116 acres and William Branham Jr to Edward Bailey, 116 acres. Thanks for any

1861 Pickaway Co., Ohio m. Elizabeth WERTENBAKER had 15 children moved to Ohio

I now know that my Meltons of Hanover county are really Meltons of Louisa and
Albermarle county. The only reason that my great grandparents lived in Hanover
County was that my ggggrandfather willed his Hanover land, 'Fulcher's Big Wood'
(site of the Civil War Battle of the Wilderness) to his granddaughter Irene.
Not only that, but if you are a descendant of the Louisa Meltons, you are the descendant of Lord Guy MELTON, a Welsh lord (came to the US in about 1735). He was given the Louisa land by the King of England as a land grant. If you are a descendant of Lord Guy MELTON or If your ancestors were Meltons from Louisa or Albermarle Counties, VA ....Please contact me.

Looking for any information on a Theodore GERMAN who was born 4 October 1904
and married Elna HARRIS. Their daughter is Peggy GERMAN HUFFMAN and she lives
here in Va Beach and works at the Virginia Beach Central Library. Peggy was
born in Charlottesville, VA and knows nothing of her family. She is the last
surviving member of her family with the exception of her children. She would
love to find any info she can. She was told when her father, Theodore was born,
his mother died at childbirth. His father was told that his wife died, but his
child was alive. Theodore never knew his father, because he walked away after
his birth. If anyone can help Peggy find her roots, any assistances would be

Abner KEEN was born in Albemarle Co. in 1799. The only record of Keens living
in Albemarle at this time frame, that I have found, is that of Robert KEEN and
Harper KEEN. Robert KEEN is in the 1800 Census Tax List as having 3 Adult
white males over the age of 21. I would love to hear from you if you have any
other information on any Keens living in this area before 1800.

I am trying to find information on George L. Martin, born about 1750 in Va, county
unknown. He was married to Ann ? and had the following offspring: Alsey, Elisa, John,
Matilda, Peggy, Polly, Tanner and James who was born about 1790 in VA or SC, and
who married Elizabeth ?. James may have married and died in TN. He had the following
offspring: John, Lewis, Nancy Jane, Philip, Sarah C., Susan, William C., George W.
(b: abt 1819 in Tn., m: abt 1837 to Elizabeth ?, and d: 1879 in Carroll Twnshp,
Reynolds Co. Mo.), and Robert W. (b: abt 1820 in Tn., m: 1843 in Knox Co. Tn. to
Lettitia Walton, d: 1848 possibly in Miss.). I am the decendent of George W. Martin
and some information I have states that George L. Martin had land in Albemarle Co.

KERLEY -
I am searching for teh Henry Kerley family. Henry kerley was born 1758 in Albemarle
Co. Virginia. I do not know who his parents were. Henry married Sarah Garrett about
1780 and they had the following children in Albemarle County Virginia.
1)Daniel B-June 27,1781
2)William Kerley B-July 13,1783
3)Levinah Kerley B-April 1785
4)James Kerley B-March 26,1787
In 1787 the family moved to Surry Co. NC. In the 1785 Census of Albemarle Co. VA
ther is a Henry Kerley, Benjamin Kerley, and John Kerley. Would like to talk with

I am searching for information on John W. SNEAD, listed in 1870 census as living in
Fredricksville Parish in Albemarle County. John married Mary Ann (Lucy) TOOLEY
9 Oct 1856 in Albemarle County. John would have been born around 1835, Mary
Ann around 1840. They have the following children listed in the same census:
Fannie, Eddie, William, John, Kellis or Cellis, and James Jefferson. James was
born around 1868 and is my great grandfather. I would welcome any information

I'm trying to find Michael WOODS (born 1684 in Ireland) (died 1761, Albemarle
Co, Va) (buried in Blair Park, Albemarle, Va). His son Richard, (b. abt 1715
in Ireland) (d. abt 1779, Blountetourt Co, Va). Richard married a Margaret
(Jennie) and had two children (Samuel & Benjamine). He married a second time
to Elizabeth Ann Stuart and had 4 children (Elizabeth, William, George, Richard, Jr).

BARKSDALE, ROGERS -
I am a relative, researching the family history of two Surnames of families that
resided in Albemarle County. The first query is for the Family of Giles ROGERS.
This gentleman had a daughter named Lucy ROGERS who married a man named Johnathan
BARKSDALE in Albemarle. They had a daughter named Lucy BARKSDALE who married
Richard Rothwell on January 17, 1815, in Albemarle. Johnathan BARKSDALE formerly
owned land on which the village of Hillsboro now stands. Any information regarding
this ROGERS or BARKSDALE family would be greatly appreciated.
