The Alleghany Highlands Genealogical Society (AHGS) is active in preserving the genealogical records of Alleghany County and the surrounding areas in Virginia and West Virginia. You are invited to visit our Library and Archives at the above location. Our hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 am - 3 pm.  We try to accommodate by appointment those guests who travel some distance and cannot visit Covington on these days.  Call or e-mail Inna Henderson at 540-962-1501 or email InnaMcAlli@aol.com.  The Genealogical Society volunteers are always excited to welcome guests and to have the chance to show them around. The Society meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm at 515 East Pine Street, Covington, VA.
