LOSS OF A FRIEND, KATHERINE BUSHMAN IS FELT BY GENEALOGISTS ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES

The Augusta County Genealogical Society is saddened by the death of Mrs. Katherine G. Bushman a local Certified Genealogist.

Mrs. Bushman a 78 year young resident of 12 Taylor Street, Staunton, Virginia devoted much of her life to researching and cataloging local history. died Tuesday December 09, 1997 at the Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.

She was born April 1, 1919, at Kansas City, Mo., a daughter of William Harrison and Grace Polk Gentry.

She graduated from the University of Missouri in 1940 with a degree in education. She taught in junior highs including Jefferson City, Mo., until 1947 when she married William Bushman, who survives.

She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority while at the University of Missouri. She was a certified Genealogist and the authority on Augusta County families. She was a charter member and past president of the Augusta County Historical Society and editor of the Society Bulletin since 1984. She was a member and past regent of Thomas Hughart Chapter of the DAR and had served as state registrar for the DAR in Missouri.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her husband, three sons survive her, William H., of Staunton, Frank Gentry of Fort Rucker, Ala., and David L. Bushman of Toms Brook; a sister, Mary Frances Holliway of Rockford, Ill; and six grandchildren.

DR. A. TAYLOR TODD conducted Service at First Presbyterian Church. Interment was at Fairview-New Hope Cemetery in Liberty, Mo.
