Death of Mr. S. L. Campbell
Mr. Samuel Leonard Campbell, of Curtisville, Pa., died in the Alleghany Valley Hospital,
Tarentum, Pa. Saturday night, Jul 26,1924, after an illness of two days, aged
thirty - two years. He had been in vigorous health up to the time of going to
the hospital, where he was operated on for gallstones. He received every
possible attention, and when it was believed by the physicans at
the hospital that blood transfusion was necessary, his brother Mr. Alfred
Gilmer Campbell, who was with him during his illness, cheerfully gave his blood
to save the life of his brother. Even that did not avail, and in a short time
he passed to his reward. Funeral services were held at Curtisville,
and then the remains were brought to Fincastle, where interment was made in the
Godwin cemetery, Tuesday evening.
The body was accompanied by his wife and daughter, his brother, Mr. Alfred G.
Campbell, and Mrs. Ernest Murphy. Mr. Campbell was a native of Botetourt and a
son of Mr. Alfred Lewis Campbell.
He had been a resident of Curtisville nine years and
was held in high esteem by all who knew him. The burial service was conducted
by Rev. H. F. Gilbert in the presence of many sorrowing friends and
acquaintances.
