A Brief History of Frances Bland Randolph Chapter
The Frances Bland Randolph Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on 6 February 1901 with seventeen charter members. Mrs. E. W. Finch was the Organizing Regent. The Chapter was named for the mother of John Randolph of Roanoke, a noted Virginia Statesman. 

The Chapter has erected many Historical Markers throughout the area. They include:

  • 1903 - Monument to Patriots, Blandford Church, Petersburg, Virginia 
  • 1905 - Monument to John Daly Burk, Blandford Church, Petersburg, Virginia 
  • 1909 - Monument at site of Fort Henry, Petersburg, Virginia 
  • 1909 - Monument at site of Peter Jones Trading Station, Petersburg, Virginia 
  • 1909 - Monument at site of Lafayette's Headquarters, Colonial Heights, Virginia 
  • 1911 - Monument at site of Battersea, Home of Col. John Banister, Petersburg, Virginia 
  • 1914 - Monument at site of Pocahontas Basin, Petersburg, Virginia 
  • 1914 - Monument to Maj. Gen. William Phillips, Blandford Church, Petersburg, Virginia 
  • 1915 - Monument at site of Niblo's Tavern, Petersburg, Virginia 
  • 1927 - Monument at site of Battle of Petersburg, Petersburg, Virginia 
  • 1937 - Monument to General Joseph Jones, Blandford Church, Petersburg, Virginia 
  • 1976 - Monument to Frances Bland Randolph, Randolph Farm of Virginia State University, Chesterfield County, Virginia 
  • 1977 - Monument to Memory of Past Regents, Blandford Church, Petersburg, Virginia 
The Chapter contributes to the restoration of early area court records, donates books and records to libraries, and members transcribe inscriptions from cemetery monuments. These activities help preserve valuable information and perpetuate awareness of the history of our area.
