This Indenture made [blank] Day of [blank] 1785 BETWEEN Thomas Stith Junior of the County of Brunswick of the one part, and Thomas Short of the same County of the other part . . . for and in consideration of the sum of twelve pounds . . . doth grant, bargain & Sell, alien and Confirm unto the said Thomas Short . . . a parcel of Land situate in the said County of Brunswick at the lower end of the Tract whereon the said Thomas Stith now liveth bounded by the Great Branch, a small Branch running near the said Thomas Stith's plantation and by Elliott's and Fields's Lines, supposed to be about six acres . . . This Indenture made this twenty second day of August, 1785 BETWEEN Benjamin Hagood & Hannah his wife and Randol Hagood of the Parish of Saint Andrews & County of Brunswick of the one part, and Lewis Collier of the Parish and County aforesaid of the other part . . . for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds twelve shillings . . . do by these presents grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff and confirm unto the said Lewis Collier . . . one certain Tract or parcel of Land situate lying & being in the County aforesaid Containing one hundred & five acres . . . bounded as followeth, BEGINNING at a Spanish Oak on the said Collier's line from thence along his line to a corner hickory on Colonal (sic) Jones's line, thence along his line to a corner post oak, thence to a corner ash in a Branch, thence to Powell's Road thence along the Road to a red Oak, thence to the BEGINNING . . . This Indenture made this thirteenth Day of July 1785 BETWEEN Richard Stone of the Parish of Meherrin & County of Brunswick and William Watson of the said County and parish . . . for and in consideration of the quantity of three thousand pounds of Inspected Crop Petersburg Tobacco . . . doth by these presents grant, Bargain, Sell and make over firmly by these presents unto the said William Watson . . . one Certain Tract or parcel of Land lying & being in the said County of Brunswick and Parish of Meherrin containing one hundred acres and bounded as followeth, to wit, BEGINNING at Douhe's corner poplar on the South side of Meherrin River Thence along his line North seventy four Degrees West seventy four poles to a shrub white Oak, Thence South fifty five degrees West one hundred poles to a white Oak, Thence South twenty degrees East one hundred and twenty six poles to Edward Hulin's corner pine, Thence along his line North sixty degrees East forty poles to his corner Red Oak, Thence North forty eight degrees East sixty eight poles to his corner white oak on Meherrin River aforesaid, Thence up the meanders of the said River to the BEGINNING . . . Signed by Richard Stone and Tabitha Stone (her mark), and witnessed by William Connell, Robert Watson, and Harry Wynn Jones (his mark). Brunswick County Court the 24th Day of October 1785. This Indenture was acknowledged by Richard Stone & Tabitha his wife parties thereto and Ordered to be Recorded previous to which the said Tabitha being privately examined as the Law directs did Voluntarily assent thereto. THE COMMONWEALTH of Virginia to William Morton and Samuel White Gentlemen greeting Whereas William Jones and Mary Daus his wife of the County of Charlotte by their certain Indenture of bargain & Sale bearing date the 2d Day of 1784 have sold and conveyed unto William Harrison Junior of the said County of Brunswick the fee simple Estate of two hundred acres of Land . . . lying and being in the said County of Brunswick and whereas the said Mary Daus cannot conveniently travel to our Court . . . to make acknowledgment of the said Conveyance Therefore we do give unto you or any two or more of you power to receive the acknowledgment which the said Mary Daus shall be willing to mae before you of the conveyance . . . and we do therefore command you that you do personally go to the said Mary Daus and receive her acknowledgment . . . this 2d Day of November 1784. Signed Drury Stith. By Virtue of this Commission to us directed we the Subscribers have privily examined Mary Daus the wife of the within named William Jones in manner and form as the said Commission requires and have received her acknowledgment of the Indenture . . . certified under our hands and Seals this 2d Day of November 1784. This Indenture made this twenty fourth day of October 1785 BETWEEN Timothy Ward of the Parish of Saint Andrews in the County of Brunswick of the one part and John Rose of the same County & Parish . . . for and in consideration of one hundred pounds . . . by these presents do give, grant, bargain, and Sell & Confirm unto the said John Rose One certain Tract or parcel of Land lying and being on the Waters of Rose's Creek in the County aforesaid and containing by estimation one hundred acres . . . and bounded as followeth, to wit, BEGINNING at a Spanish oak on Great Creek Road running North three degrees East to a Red oak on the said Road, Thence North seventy five degrees East to a white oak, Thence East forty five Degrees South to a black Gum on a branch, Thence up the said Branch to the mouth of William Thomas Pennington's Spring branch, Thence up the North prong of the Branch to a small Drian (sic) or Valey (sic) that runs South seventy degrees West, Thence up the said Drian (sic) or Valey (sic) to a hickory on Pennington's line, Thence West sixty degrees North to a shrub Oak, Thence South eighty four Degrees West to the BEGINNING at Pennington's Corner Tree . . . This Indenture made this twenty second day of August 1785 BETWEEN Thomas Roberts and Mary his wife of the one part, and Samuel Roberts of the other part both of the County Brunswick . . . for and in consideration of the sum of ten shillings . . . by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said Samuel Roberts . . . one certain Tract or Parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Brunswick on Great Creek and bounded as followeth, to wit, BEGINNING on the South side of the Great Creek at the mouth of the Great Branch, Thence up the said Branch to Benjamin Whitehead's line, Thence along the said line to Benjamin Ogborne's, Thence along the said line to the said Creek, thence down the said Creek to the mouth of the little Creek in Edmunds's Mill Pond, Thence up the little Creek to Samuel Roberts's spring Branch, Thence up the said Branch to the head, Thence a straight line to the head of the Branch through the Plantation, Thence down the said Branch to the Creek, Thence down the said Creek as it meanders to the BEGINNING containing two hundred & forty Acres . . . This Indenture made this twenty sixth day of November 1785 BETWEEN Thomas Jackson of the County of Brunswick and Leurancy his wife of the one part and Owen Myrick of the same County of the other part . . . for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & twenty pounds . . . by these presents to grant, bargain & Sell unto the said Owen Myrick . . . all that Tract or parcel of Land which the said Thomas Jackson purchased of Thomas Claiborne containing by estimation three hundred . . . & bounded as follows BEGINNING at a sweet gum in little rattle snake Creek on the said Myrick's line, Thence near East by said Myrick's to a corner small with oak, Thence North to a Black Jack, Thence Northwest to a corner pine, Thence West to a white oak blown down, Thence by a straight line near South west to a corner white oak on Little Rattle snake Creek, Thence down the said Creek as it meanders to a sweet gum to the BEGINNING . . . Signed by Thomas Jackson and Leurancy (or Leuraney) Jackson, and witnessed by James Fletcher, William Ward (his mark), Thomas Howard (his mark), and Joel Manning. This Indenture made this first Day of November 1785 BETWEEN Thomas Pinner and Lucy his wife of Brunswick County in the province of Virginia of the one part and Randolph Vaughan of the other part of aforesaid . . . for and in the consideration of the sum of fifty pounds . . . bargained and sold alien, enfeoffed, . . . & confirmed unto the said Randolph Vaughan . . . on certain tract or parcel of Land containing by estimation seventy five acres . . . bounded as followeth, to wit, BEGINNING at corner pine on Jeremiah Bentley's, line, so running the said line of marked trees to a willow oak on the Rockey run, Thence up the said Run the various water course to Jesse Glover's line, Thence up the said line by marked trees to Thomas Stevens's line a corner oak, thence along the said line of marked trees to the said stationed pine it being the said Land the said Pinner bought of William Sucat & the said Sucat (or Sweat) of David Stokes . . .
