This Indenture made the ninth Day of December, 1779 BETWEEN Thomas Jeffryes of the County of Cravin in the Province of South Carolina of the one part and Thomas Morris of the County of Brunswick and Collony of Virginia of the other part WITNESSETH . . . for divers causes and considerations but more especially for the just sum of one hundred pounds lawful money of Virginia . . . one messuage or parcel of Land lying situate and being in the County of Brunswick (to wit) BEGINNING at a white oak on Simon Clark's line thence along his line to John Anderson's line thence along said Anderson's line to George Andersons line thence along his line to a small Read oak a corner between said Jeffryes and Drury Peebles's thence along Peebles line to the BEGINNING containing one hundred and seventy one acres . . . Signed by Thomas Jeffryes and witnessed by Frances Dancy, John Mclemon and Burrel Mclemon. At a Court held for Brunswick County the 24th day of April 1780. This Indenture was proved by the oaths of Francis Dancy, John Mclemon & Burrel Mclemon the witness thereto and ordered to be recorded. Deed Book 14, page 11.
This Indenture made this twenty seventh Day of March, 1780 BETWEEN Thomas Morris of the County of Brunswick and State of Virginia of the one part and Henry Morris of the County of Southampton of the other part WITNESSETH that the said Thomas Morris for divers good causes and considerations but more especially for the Just sum of [------] (as in the original) current money of Virginia . . . doth bargain sell alien convey and confirm one Messuage or parcel of Land lying situate and being in the County of Brunswick (to wit) BEGINNING at as white oak on Simon Clarks decd. line thence along the said line to John Anderson's line thence along the said Anderson's line to George Anderson's line thence along the said line to a small red oak a corner between the said Thomas Morris and Drury Peebles line to the beginning containing one hundred and seventy one acres . . . This Indenture made this twenty fifth Day of November, 1779 BETWEEN Samuel Major of the County of Brunswick of the one part and David Mason Junr. of the County of Sussex of the other part WITNESSETH that for and in consideration of the sum of three thousand two hundred and fifty pounds . . . do grant bargain and sell unto the said David Mason . . . all that tract or parcel of Land I the said Samuel Major now lives on it being the Land I purchased of Daniel Fisher lying on both sides of the Three Creeks and bounded as is mentioned in the said Fishers Deed to the said Major bearing date the twenty fourth Day of July one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven and duly recorded in the County Court of Brunswick . . . containing three hundred and eighty five acres . . . This Indenture made this the 21st of February, 1780 BETWEEN John Tomlinson of Brunswick County of the one part and Lucas Tomlinson of the same County of the other part WITNESSETH that the said John Tomlinson and Susanna his wife for and in consideration of the sum of two thousand pounds current money . . . acquit and discharge unto the said Lucas Tomlinson . . . one Tract piece or parcel of Land lying and being in the aforesaid County by estimation one hundred and eighty three acres be the same more or less and bounded as followeth BEGINNING at a Corner Pine standing on Benjamin Reeves line thence along the said line to a white oak thence to a black Jack on Richard Syke's line thence to a white oak thence to a black Jack on Shehoms line thence to a Pine on the same line a Corner on a branch thence down the said branch to a black Gum thence to a white oak on Cooks line thence to a hickory on the road thence along the said Road to the place where it began . . . Signed by John Tomlinson and Susanna Tomlinson (her mark) and witnessed by William Fox, Parkens Thomson (sic), Briggs Goodrich, James Tomlinson, Richard Sykes, and John Soter. At a Court held for Brunswick County the 24th Day of April 1780. This Indenture was proved by the oaths of Parkins Thompson Richard Sykes and John Soter Witnesses thereto and Ordered to be recorded. This Indenture made this on the sixth Day of March, 1780 BETWEEN Thomas Proctor of the County of Brunswick and Parish of Saint Andrew of the one part and Featherston Sadler of the other part WITNESSETH . . . for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and seventy five pounds . . . hath granted bargained and sold aliened and confirmed unto the said Fetherston (sic) Sadler . . . all that Tract or parcel of Land situate in Brunswick County adjoining Thomas Sadlers containing eighty acres the said more or less and bounded as followeth, Viz, BEGINNING at a spanish oak on Thomas Sadlers line thence towards east to the middle Creek thence toward north along the said Creek to Jeremiah Hixes Corner white oak thence by a straight line towards west to a Pine on Thomas Sadlers line thence along that line to the BEGINNING . . . Signed by Thomas Proctor (his mark) and witnessed by Thomas Sadler Senr., John Fowler, Jeremiah Hicks, and Jacob Lanier. At a Court held for Brunswick County the 24th day of April, 1780. This Indenture was proved by the oaths of John Fowler, Jeremiah Hicks and Jacob Lanier witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. Deed Book 14, page 14.
This Indenture made the 24th Day of April, 1780 BETWEEN Samuel Harwell Senr. of Brunswick County of the one part and Robert Abernathy of the same County, son in Law to the said Samuel Harwell of the other part WITNESSETH that the Samuel Harwell as well for and in Consideration of the natural love and affection which he hath and beareth unto the said Robert Abernathy his son in Law as also for the better maintenance and preferment of the said Robert Abernathy Hath given granted aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Robert Abernathy his heirs and assigns forever two hundred acres of Land situate in the said County of Brunswick on the south side of Reedy Creek to be laid off out of the upper end of the tract whereon the Samuel Harwell now lives joining Cuthbert Smiths lines . . . Signed by Samuel Harwell. At a Court held for Brunswick County the 24th Day of April, 1780. This Indenture was acknowledged by Samuel Harwell a partie thereto and ordered to be recorded. This Indenture made the 24th day of April, 1780, BETWEEN James Tommas of the County of Brunswick of the one part and Robert Morris of the County of Dinwiddie of the other WITNESSETH . . . for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds . . . doth fairly and absolutely give grant bargain and sell and confirm unto the said Robert Morris . . . a certain tract or parcel of land containing forty acres be the same more or less being and lying in the County of Brunswick adjoining the Lands of Thomas Morris and William Hamore with all woods underwoods waters water courses Orchards Houses buildings and all the improvement thereon being . . . Signed by James Tommas. At a Court held for Brunswick County the 24th Day of April, 1780. This Indenture was Acknowledged by James Tommas a party thereto and Ordered to be Recorded. This Indenture made the twenty fifth Day of January, 1777 BETWEEN Athur (sic) Turner and Elizabeth his wife of the Parish of Meherrin and County of Brunswick of the one part and John Lightfoot of the Parish and County aforesaid of the other part WITNESSETH . . . for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred pounds . . . do grant bargain and sell alien enfeoff release and confirm to the said John Lightfoot . . . one certain tract or parcel of Land containing by estimation two hundred and fifty acres lying and being on the south side of Fountains Creek in the County of Brunswick and bounded as followeth (to wit) BEGINNING at a white oak at Fountains Creek thence South forty degree west one hundred and eight five poles to a Red Oak thence south forty degrees east one hundred and sixty poles to a white oak thence south seventy two degrees east seventy four poles to a red oak thence north forty five degrees east one hundred and twenty two poles to a hickory at Fountains Creek thence up the said Creek to the BEGINNING and being a tract or parcel of Land granted to John Linch by patent bearing date the twenty eighth day of September one thousand seven hundred and twenty eight . . . Signed by Arthur Turner and witnessed by Turner Bynum, Thomas Lightfoot, Anselm Harrison, and George Waddell. At a Court held for Brunswick County the 24th Day of March, 1777. This Indenture was partly proved by the oaths of Thomas Lightfoot and George Waddell two of the witnesses thereto. And at a Court held for the said County the 24th day of April, 1780, the said Indenture was proved by the oath of Turner Bynum a Witness thereto and Ordered to be recorded. Deed Book 14, page 17.
This Indenture made this [ ] day of [ ] , 1779, BETWEEN Augustine Petillo of the County of Brunswick and state of Virginia of the one part and William Fogg of the County aforesaid of the other part WITNESSETH . . . for an in consideration of the sum of thirty five pounds . . . have granted bargained and sold unto the said William Fogg one certain tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Brunswick on the north side of rapier (?) Creek being part of a tract of Land formerly belonging to Thomas Ravenscraft from him conveyed by a Deed to the said Augustine Petillo as may more plainly appear and bounded as follows (Viz) BEGINNING at George Browder's corner Red oak thence along his line to a Corner dead Red oak on the back line adjoining George Wall's line thence along the said line to Edward Traviss corner red oak, thence along his line to a Shrub white oak on the long branch, thence crossing the said branch on Travis's line to a Corner red oak, thence along his line to the BEGINNING Containing by estimation one hundred and five acres . . . Signed by Augustine Pitillo (his mark), and witnessed by John Neal, Charles Hicks, and Joshua Proctor. At a Court held for Brunswick County the 28th Day of February, 1780. This Indenture was proved by the oaths of John Neal and Charles Hicks witnesses thereto and at a Court held for the said County the 24th Day of April following the said Indenture was proved by the oath of Joshua Proctor a witness thereto and Ordered to be recorded. This Indenture made this 18th Day of May, 1780 BETWEEN Thomas Jones of the County of Brunswick of the one part and Aron (sic) Haskins of the said County of the other part . . . for and in consideration of the sum of four thousand five hundred pounds . . . doth grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Aron Haskins . . . all that tract or parcel of Land whereon Francis Burner formerly lived lying and being in the County of Lunenburg and Brunswick Containing by estimation four hundred acres more or less and bounded as followeth (Viz) BEGINNING at a corner red oak on Stephen Jones' line thence along Stephen Jones' line to John Robert Jones's line thence along Jones line to James Kirks line thence along Kirks line to Lewis Lamberds line thence along Lamberds line to Anne Strang's line thence along Strange's line to John Roger's line thence along Rogers line to William Weaver's line thence along Weaver's line to Aron Haskins' line thence along Haskins' to Stephen Jones line thence along Jones's to the BEGINNING . . . Signed by Thomas Jones and witnessed by John Haskins, William Grimes (his mark), and John Jones. At a Court held for Brunswick County the 26th Day of June 1780. This Indenture and Memorandum thereon endorsed was acknowledged by Thomas Jones a party thereto and Ordered to be recorded. Deed Book 14, page 18.
This Indenture made the 17th Day of May, 1780, BETWEEN John Quarles and his wife of the County of Amelia of the one part and Josiah Reese of the County of Dinwiddie of the other part . . . for and in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred pounds . . . do fully clearly and absolutely acquit exonerate and discharge the said Josiah Reese . . . and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Josiah Reese . . . one certain tract or parcel of Land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying and being in the County of Brunswick and bounded as followeth BEGINNING at a small white oak thence west eighty two poles to a pine thence south seventy four degrees west one hundred and eighty poles to a corner on the County line thence by the said line south six degrees west one hundred and eighty two poles to Waqua Creek thence down the meanders of the said Creek to a white oak on the same thence north six degrees east two hundred and two poles to the BEGINNING containing by estimation two hundred and forty eight acres . . . Signed by John Quarles and Susanna Quarles (her mark) and witnessed by Stephen Clement, Simon Clement and Daniel Jackson. At a Court held for Brunswick County the 26th Day of June 1780. This Indenture Memorandum and receipt were acknowledged by John Quarles a party thereto and Ordered to be recorded. Deed Book 14, page 20.
