TO ALL to whom these present writing shall come know ye that we Benjamin Harrison, James Harrison, Jno. Hicks, John Cook, Myhill Collier, Robert Hicks, John Barner, Hannah Reese, children of Benjamin Harrison, deceased late of the County of Brunswick and Robert Hicks, John Lett Cook, John Hicks, Miles Collier, & John Barner are those who married to the daughter of the said Benja. Harrison, dec'd. we the said persons for sundry reasons and considerations but more especially to fulfill and es_ply with the real intent and desire of our father Benjamin Harrison dec'd which we believe was his intention for some years before he departed this life So that we and each of us as above mentioned do freely and voluntarily of our own free will and consent give grant & confirm by these presents unto Lucy Barner, the daughter of John Barner one Negro boy named Fed which was the property of our father Benja. Harrison, dec'd. to her and her heirs forever as we have the strongest circumstances to believe it was our father Benja. Harrison intent & desire to have devised him the said Negro boy Fed to her the said Lucy Barner in his Last Will and Testament but thro a mistake as we do expect he did not. We the persons above named do hereby jointly and severally agree and openly declare by these presents that we do freely clearly and absolutely give grant & confirm unto Lucy Barner the said Negroe boy named Fed to her and her heirs forever to her and their own proper use and behoof forever to do use and dispose at her and their will and pleasure without any manner of challenge claims demand of any of us above mentioned or of any other person or persons for us or in our names by our calls means consent or procurement but that she the said Lucy Barner shall and may peaceably and quietly possess and enjoy the said Negroe named Fed as free and clear from the claim right title or demand of us or any of us our heirs executors and administrators from time to time and at all times forever as witness our hands and seals this ____ day of April 1790. Brunswick County Court June 20th 1790. This Deed of Gift was proved according to law by the oaths of Theophilus Harrison & Wylie Harrison, two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
