Indenture made the 22nd day of December, 1783, between Lewis Hicks and Sarah, his wife, and William Batte, Jr., of Greenville County, for 800 pounds, conveying 510 acre tract on both sides of the Great Creek (on Thowers line, Sowells line, Seawells line, thence North on Robert Hixes line, up Steep Branch from its mouth, Field's line), containing part of 960 acre tract granted to John Hicks by Letters Patent bearing date of September 28, 1728. Presented in Court on December 22, 1783.
