THIS INDENTURE made the Eighth day of December in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty five BETWEEN James Parham of Greensville County and State of Virginia of the one part and Robert Hicks of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said James Parham for and in consideration of the Sum of Ninety Pounds to him in hand paid by the said Robert Hicks before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said James Parham doth hereby acknowledge and thereof from every part and parcel thereof doth forever fully and absolutely acquit exonerate and discharge the said Robert Hicks his Exors. and Admrs. and by these presents hath given granted bargained Sold enfeoff and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain Sell and confirm unto the said Robert Hicks and his heirs a Certain Tract and parcel of Land in the Low grounds of Meherring River lying and being in Greensville County and State of Virga. Containing by estimation forty five Acres be the same more or less and bounded as followeth Beginning at the Goose pond at the dividing line of the said Robert Hicks and James Parham a White Oak in a Slash thence up the said Slash by a line of Marked trees to a Corner black Gum inside the Ankeys field thence by a new line of marked trees towards Petersons plantation till it Strikes the said Robert Hicks and James Parhams line thence along the said line towards the River to a Corner Red Oak thence along the said line to the Goose Pond to the first Station together with all Houses Orchards Gardens Trees Woods Underwoods profits emoluments whatsoever to the said Tract of Land and premises belonging or in any wise appertaining and all the Estate Right Title and Interest use trust property claim and demand whatsoever eitther in equity or Law of the said James Parham his heirs or assigns of in and to the said Land and premises or any part thereof and all Deeds evidence or Writing whatsoever touching and concerning the said premises or any part thereof of forty five acres of Land and premises with their and every of their appurts. unto the said Robert Hicks his heirs and Assignes forever And the said James Parham for himself his heirs Exors. and Admrs. doth Covenant grant promise and agree to and with the said Robert Hicks his heirs and Assigns that the said James Parham the above mentioned premises shall defend against the lawful claim of the said James Parham his heirs or Assigns or any other person or persons claiming or pretending to claim by form or under them or any of them In Witness whereof the said James Parham hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his Seal the day and year above Written.
