Indenture made 9 October 1776 betw. Boling Dunn and Keziah his Wife of Meherrin parish, Brunswick County, and Robert Hicks of same, for One hundred Pounds, sell to Robert Hicks, all that Tract or parcel of Land situate in Meherrin Parish in the said County of Brunswick lying between Hicks's Creek and Dunn's Creek and within the Bounds following to wit Beginning at William Bishops Corner on Dunn's Creek thence South up the said Creek to said Robert Hicks's line Thence along said Hicks's line West? to a corner near his House thence along the said Hicks's line North to a corner on the aforesaid Bishop's line on the Spring Branch thence up the said Branch East to the Beginning Being one hundred acres by estimation be the same more or less it being part of that Tract of Land that formerly belonged to John Stevens and sold by the said Stevens to Lambert Lanoir . . .
