Indenture made 19 November 1777, betw. Benjamin Hicks and Martha his wife of Brunswick Co., Meherrin Parish and Lewis Hicks of same, for Six Hundred pounds, sell to Lewis Hicks, all that tract or parcel of Land situate in the said County of Brunswick and Parish of Meherrin on both sides of the Great Creek and within the bounds following to wit, Beginning on the Great Creek on Throwers line at a white Oak stump at the ford of the said Creek thence South East on the said line to Seawell's line at the Corner at a white Oak thence North on Seawell's line to a red Oak thence East cross the Creek to three small Saplins chopped inwards thence North on Robert Hicks's line to a Gum thence West across the said Creek to an Ash thence North adjoining Robert Hicks's line to a Mappel B to C cross the low Grounds North forty degrees West thirty poles to the Creek D to D up the said Creek to the mouth of Steep branch thence West up the said Branch to a small ash on the said Branch thence South on Fields line to a red Oak and Hicory thence East to an Ash on the Great Creek thence up the said Creek to the Beginning the same being part of a tract of Land containing nine Hundred and sixty Acres granted unto John Hicks by Letters Patent bearing date under the Seal of the Colony the twenty eighth Day of September 1728 be the same five hundred and ten Acres more or less. . .
