In the Name of God Amen this Eighteenth Day of January (Anno Domini) 1772
I Edeth Kibbles of Onslow County in the province of North Carolina,
Widow, being ancient and weak, but in perfect mind and Memory, Thanks begiven
unto God for the same, calling unto mind the Mortality of my Body, and knowing
that it is appointed for all Men once to dye; do make and ordain this my
last Will and Testament. Vizt.
Principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands
of Almighty God who gave it, and my Body to the dust to be buried in a Christian
like and Decent manner at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting
but at the General Resurrection, I shall receive the same
^again by the mighty Power of God. And as touching
such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life,
I give, devise, and dispose, of the same, in the following manner and form
Imprimis that is to say the first of all
my just debts to be paid, Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter
Lucy Fonville, one real ^skin Trunk,
one Box Iron and heaters, and the half of all my wearing Apparel and the
other half to Mary Williams. Item, I give and bequeath
to my Grandaughter Esther Williams, the Daughter of
Joseph Williams and Mary his Wife, my old Negroe
Woman named Anaka, likewise my riding Saddle, and one Bell
mettle Skillet, to her and her heirs forever. Item, it is my desire
that my Bed and Bed furniture should be equally divided betwixt my two Daughters,
Mary, and Lucy, Item. I give and bequeath unto
my well beloved Son James Kibbles my Negroe Boy named
Dick, likewise m the remainder of what Goods
I shall be possesed of at the time of my Death real or personal, (after paying
the above Legacies), to him and his heirs for ever. I likewise Constitute
and appoint my Son James Kibbles my whole and Sole Executor
of this my last Will and Testament, and do hereby disallow, disannul, and
revoke; all and every other and former Wills and Testaments, bequeaths, or
Executors, before any ways before this Time named, Willed, or bequeathed;
making and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament,
in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Day and Year
above mentioned.
