Opportunities to Serve

There are a myriad of opportunities to serve your country and community when you become a member of the DAR. Our year usually starts off with Constitution Week, September 17-23, during which we sponsor a number of different patriotic activities. Every year, during the Christmas Holiday season, we collect gift bags for veterans. We support DAR schools, such as Crossnore School for needy children, located in the mountains of North Carolina. We sponsor essay contests and give citizenship and achievement awards at our local schools. We also give funds for the preservation and restoration of Norfolk County records. We participate in the immigration and naturalization services for new American citizens. Just take a look at the various chapter committees listed below to get an idea of the wide variety of areas of service in which our chapter is whole-heartedly involved.
